A Closer Look At Joey King's Young But Impressive Career

The young actress has already accomplished so much in her career and there is so much more in store for her!

It's no secret that Joey King can play just about any role in any project of any genre. She has proved this by her extensive career at just 20 years old and she is not slowing down now.

You may have seen King for the first time in the Netflix romantic comedy The Kissing Booth, which was released in 2018. King stared alongside now ex-boyfriend Jacob Elordi and the film soon became a fan-favorite as a funny yet sentimental teen movie about love, friendship, and where they intersect.

Soon after, King set her sights on another teen rom-com in the indie movie Summer '03. King tackled the genre again in a slightly more skewed and raw way, this time tackling religion, longing, young love and family drama.

For anyone wondering if King was a one-trick pony, only portraying teenagers in cheesy romantic comedies, King completely transformed her career in Spring of 2019 with the Hulu true crime docu-seriesThe Act. Based on true events, King portrays Gypsy Rose, who has a tumultuous relationship with her mother, ultimately ending in her being tried for her own mother's death.

For this role, King received several nominations for the Emmys, Golden Globes, and more, proving her adaptability and range as an actress.

You can also see King in The Lie opposite Peter Sarsgaard and Slender Man.

Looking Ahead

After the success of the original, King's next project is The Kissing Booth 2! The sequel is out now and follows King's character Elle and her relationship with Elordi's Noah. Problems arise for the couple as new characters and love interests are introduced. Be sure to watch this weekend on Netflix!

Coming off her most decorated role to date, King looks ahead to multiple projects in the works. This includes a series adaptation of the Jodi Picoult novel, A Spark of Light, which King is set to star in and executive produce with Sony Pictures TV. The novel follows a seemingly ordinary day at a women's reproductive health clinic when trouble arises. No details have been released about the timeline for this project yet.

King just signed a first-look deal with Hulu to produce her own series, making her one of the youngest actors to do so, making the actress live up to her impressive name.

Be sure to watch The Kissing Booth 2 out now and be on the lookout for what's next from King!
