She died right before her 100th birthday, which would be on January 17th. Friends, fans, and fellow actors and actresses reflected on the beauty of her life on social media. Fans of hers have filled her recent Instagram post comment sections with nothing but prayers and kind words.

Ryan Reynolds, a friend of Betty's who also starred in the film "The Proposal" with her, posted the following caption on Instagram to a picture of her:

"The world looks a little different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret."

Ellen DeGeneres, a fellow comedian and host of 'The Ellen Show', tweeted:

"What an exceptional life. I’m grateful for every second I got to spend with Betty White. Sending love to her family, friends and all of us."

Actor George Takei tweeted:

"Our national treasure, Betty White, has passed just before her 100th birthday. Our Sue Ann Nivens, our beloved Rose Nylund, has joined the heavens to delight the stars with her inimitable style, humor, and charm. A great loss to us all. We shall miss her dearly."

President Joe Biden also took the time to make an announcement on Twitter about the tragic passing of Betty:

"Betty White brought a smile to the lips of generations of Americans. She’s a cultural icon who will be sorely missed. Jill and I are thinking of her family and all those who loved her this New Year’s Eve."

Many know Betty for her quick wit and impeccable comedic timing, but the beloved actress also served in WWII as a member of the American Women's Voluntary Services.

The United States Army tweeted this alongside this photograph:

"We are saddened by the passing of Betty White. Not only was she an amazing actress, she also served during WWII as a member of the American Women's Voluntary Services. A true legend on and off the screen."

Betty White had an intense love for animals and wildlife. She grew up with golden retrievers, and always had a passion for becoming a zookeeper. The Los Angeles Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers actually made her an "Honorary Zookeeper" in 2013.
