Billy Eichner Makes History With Entire LGBTQ+ Cast For His Upcoming Movie 'Bros'

Billy Eichner

Just in time for LGBTQ history month in October, actor and comedian Billy Eichner has just announced that he will be completely flipping the script in his upcoming film Bros with all openly LGBTQ+ actors in the cast.

Eichner is venturing into bigger projects this year, making queer history with the making of his new film. With the release of Bros, Eichner is on track to become the first openly gay man to co-write and star in his own studio film, having the first completely LGBTQ cast ensemble, and being the first gay romantic comedy produced by a major studio.

All heterosexual roles in the film are going to be played by LGBTQ+ members, turning Hollywood completely upside down. Initially breaking the news to The Hollywood Reporter, Eichner shared how proud he is to be breaking down this barrier for the queer community.

The plot of the romantic comedy is still unclear, but it is described as an heartfelt movie about two gay men (Eichner and Luke Macfarlane) navigating the complexities of love.

Eichner's hope is that the world can finally recognize that queer actors are just as capable as heterosexual ones and that more opportunities will be given to the entire community. In an Instagram post, Eichner shared the love for the Bros cast and the comment section flooded with love for the news. Universal Pictures commented all its support for the upcoming movie:

"We're still beaming with joy."

Bros is set to be released on August 2022 by Universal Pictures.
