Britney Spears announced she's expecting her first child with fiancé Sam Asghari.

Britney Spears is expecting!

The singer announced the news in an Instagram post, where she shared she was noticing she had gained weight after a trip to Maui. She wrote,

"So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby."

Spears already has two teenage sons from her previous marriage to Kevin Federline. She said that she would be avoiding public appearances going forward to avoid having her picture taken.

"I obviously won’t be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have"

She then reflected on her past experiences with pregnancy, sharing,

"it's hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression … I have to say it is absolutely horrible."

Spears noted how women's pregnancy struggles can often be seen as taboo, especially with the stigma surrounding herself.

"women didn't talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her, but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don't have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret."

The singer said she plans on "doing yoga every day" instead of going out, adding,

"Spreading lots of joy and love!!!"

Spears met her fiance, Sam Asghari, on the set of the music video for her song "Slumber Party." During her legal battle to end her thirteen year conservatorship, she shared that she wanted to get married and have a baby, but claimed her conservators would not let her remove her remove her birth control.

"I have an [IUD] inside of myself right now so I don't get pregnant. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does by having a child, a family, any of those things."

The pregnancy announcement comes six months after the end of her conservatorship. Congratulations to the Spears family!
