BTS Partners With Disney for Five Television and Movie Projects

BTS Partners With Disney for Five Television and Movie Projects

BTS is coming to Disney! The Korean-pop band announced Monday, July 11, that they will be working on five streaming titles in a deal with the Walt Disney Company.

Airing exclusively on Disney +, the five projects will showcase BTS from different perspectives, ranging from concert films and docuseries to reality television. In a press release, Jessica Kam-Engle, APAC Head of Content at the Walt Disney Company, shared what these projects mean for the streaming platform.

“This collaboration represents our creative ambition – to work with iconic content creators and top stars in Asia Pacific so their talent can be enjoyed by mainstream audiences in multiple ways.”

Premiering on YouTube, BTS gave a sneak peek into some of the upcoming shows. Coming soon is “BTS: Permission to Dance On Stage – LA,” which captures their November 2021 live performance at the Los Angeles’ Sofi Stadium.

In 2023, “BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star” will take viewers on the band’s rise to fame. In the announcement, the group noted that this documentary-style show will "show a more up close and personal side of us."

BTS member, V, will join actors Seo-jun Park, Hyung-sik Park and Peakboy in the reality-travel series, “In The Soop: Friendcation,” where the group takes a surprise vacation together.

Hybe corporation’s CEO, Park Ji-won, expressed his excitement to begin BTS’ next chapter on Disney+, saying:

“This will be the start of a long-term collaboration, where we present worldwide audiences a wide range of Hybe content for fans who love our music and artists. The Walt Disney Company has a long history of franchise building and promoting musical artists, with its unparalleled brands and platforms."

Unfortunately this is not news of the band coming out of its hiatus; Disney will utilizes footage from the archives by compiling nine years of past music and video. These projects also plan to shed some light on BTS' decision, from early June, to take some time to grow individually.
