It was recently revealed that "Lightyear" will be banned in many middle eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE's Media Regulatory Office did not give a specific reason for its decision but stated the movie was banned for its "violation of the country's media content standards."

"Lightyear," which is an origin story about the beloved "Toy Story" character Buzz Lightyear, features a same-sex kiss in the movie.

The "Lightyear" ban comes six months after the UAE announced it would stop censoring the cinema, but instead, would have a 21-plus age rating for films it classifies for older audiences.

The film has now joined other Disney titles like "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "West Side Story" and "Eternals'" in the ever-growing list of major Disney blockbusters to be banned by Gulf sensors due to the inclusion of LGBT scenes.

Despite the loss of marketplaces, studios like Disney are still determined to produce movies that celebrate and include LGBTQ themes and storylines.

"Lightyear" will be hitting theaters on June 16, 2022.
