Caleb Kennedy Leaves American Idol After Racist Video Surfaces

After a video of him posing with somebody wearing what appears to resemble Ku Klux Klan garb surfaced on the internet, American Idol contestant Caleb Kennedy has announced he will not be returning to the show.

Kennedy's apology, via Instagram, states that he "was younger and did not think about the actions, but that's not an excuse". The 16 year old country singer has been a fan favorite for his risk taking and original songwriting. The show will now continue with a final four rather than final five as we get closer to announcing a winner.

Caleb's mother, Anita Guy, told her local paper that, "This video was taken after Caleb had watched the movie 'The Strangers: Prey at Night' and they were imitating those characters. It had nothing to do with the Ku Klux Klan, but I know that's how it looks. Caleb doesn't have a racist bone in his body. He loves everyone and has friends of all races."
