Casting Updates From The Soap Opera World: Familiar Faces Return To The Screen

Celebrity Page TV, Soap Opera Digest

There's a lot to cover in the world of daytime television, so our Sonia Isabelle is checking in with Soap Opera Digest editorial director Stephanie Sloane for the latest headlines.

Ted King

From General Hospital to the X-Files, Ted King has become a veteran television actor. Now, he is set to join The Bold and The Beautiful and make his show debut at the end of July.

King is best known for having played detective Andy Trudeau in the primetime series Charmed becoming the first true male heartthrob of the program. In 2002, King returned to soaps as Luis Alcazar on General Hospital until his character was killed off. However, he later returned to General Hospital as Luis' identical younger brother, Lorenzo Alcazar. After guest appearances on Frazier, Law & Order, and a pandemic-prompted shutdown of the entertainment industry, King feels excited to return to a soap set.

He will play Jack, the father of Finn(Tanner Novlan), alongside actress Naomi Matsuda as the couple comes into town to meet their soon-to-be-born grandchild. King stated that after not working through the pandemic, he really welcomed the chance to return to a set and felt very embraced by the whole B&B cast, which includes some of his former colleagues.

Greg Vaughan

Changing channels, actor and fashion model Greg Vaughan is set to step into the shoes of his previous character, Eric, as he returns to Days Of Our Lives. Like King, Vaughan is not new to soap operas.

The actor got his big break on The Young and The Restless in 2002, and also acted in General Hospital for 6 years (2003-2009). However, last year, daytime audiences witnessed Vaughan depart from Day Of Our Lives after eight years with the show and a daytime Emmy award he won in 2018. Yet, after NBC renewed the program for its 57th and 58th seasons in March, Vaughan felt he had to return.

However, he has kept busy since his departure, filming season five of Queen Sugar on OWN.

Day of Our Lives airs weekdays at 1:00 p.m. EDT on NBC. The Bold and The Beautiful airs weekdays at 1:30 EDT on CBS.
