Safe Room is about a recently widowed mother and her autistic son Ian. After Ian witnesses and records a murder across the street, his mother must protect her son from the deadly intruders who will do whatever it takes to retrieve the evidence.
"For me, it was a great opportunity to paint a picture about representation. We found this amazing actor, Nik Sanchez, who is on the spectrum and who brings this amazing, his amazing, talent to the project," Kodjoe said.
Kodjoe will both direct and star in the film alongside his real life wife, Nicole Ari Parker, and former Sopranos star Drea De Matteo.
"I've never played a character like this before. I've always played a victim, which sucks up your energy. I never realized how easy it is to be a psychopath. This is going to be one of those edge of your seat kind of things," Matteo said.
Safe Room premieres Saturday, January 15th, on Lifetime.
After eleven seasons on Shameless, Cameron Monaghan is taking on the big screen in the new thriller Shattered.
Cameron Monaghan plays Chris Decker in the film, a lonely tech millionaire who falls for the charming, blonde-haired beauty played by Lilly Krugg. However, Sky's strange behavior begins to worry Chris as he suspects her intentions may be more menacing than they appear.
Monaghan described the film as similar to erotic psychological thrillers from the past.
"I think that there's a genre of film, like the erotic thriller... the 'Basic Instinct,' the 'Body Heat,' 'Single White Female'... like there's all these movies that don't really exist anymore and I thought it was really cool upon reading the script that it felt like a throwback," Monaghan said.
Monaghan stars alongside Frank Grillo and the great John Malkovich.
"Something that was really amazing with working with John is he gave you something different in every take. He had such an awareness and mastery of the pacing and the tone of a scene and kind of playing around and dancing within it. And that was really fun playing off of him."
Shattered is in theaters and available on demand.
Lucy Hale is going to the extreme in the new thriller Borrego.
The star, most known for her role as Aria Montgomery in the hit show Pretty Little Liars has made an impressive jump from television to the big screen.
"I knew that that show changed my life. I knew that that was my big break. I also knew that after 'PLL' ended that I was going to have to fight to break myself out of that mold and I was going have to be like... no I actually can do other things," Hale said
Hale is doing just that! The actress has starred in three new movies back to back. Currently, Hale stars in Borrego following the The Hating Game's release last month.
In Borrego, Hale plays a young botanist who gets kidnapped after witnessing a drug mule's plane crash in the Borrego Desert.
"Because she witnesses things she shouldn't have witnessed, it becomes a story of survival. What I love so much about the movie is that... at the heart of it, it's about people and what we all have in common. People who come from different parts of life. It's sort of this two-hander where these people, who couldn't be more opposite, find out they have so much in common. I just thought it was really beautiful," Hale said.
If you can’t get enough Lucy, the actress is also starring alongside Andy Garcia and Megan Fox in Big Gold Brick, due out next month.
"'Big Gold Brick' is truly unlike any movie I've ever seen, let alone been a part of and by that I mean... it bends all genres. It's about Andy Garcia's character and about a biography being written about him, so I play Andy Garcia's daughter. It truly was so much fun to be a part of. It's truly a wacky movie... like I said, it's unlike I've ever seen before."
