Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio Return to Marvel in Echo Series

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio Return to Marvel in Echo Series
Netflix, Marvel

Charlie Cox will officially be playing Daredevil for a new Disney+ series!

Cox’s most recent appearance in a Marvel project was his cameo in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” where he played blind attorney, Matt Murdock, who briefly helped Peter Parker out of legal trouble after his Spider-Man identity was revealed.

But that’s not all the character, or actor, is known for in the Marvel Universe. From 2015 to 2018, Cox starred in a Netflix series, “Daredevil,” where Matt Murdock fought crime under the same name. The series was cancelled after the creation of Disney+ as a Netflix competitor.

While the events of “Daredevil” may not be officially recognized by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, certain characters are. Alongside Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio will return as villain Kingpin coming off of his recent appearance in the “Hawkeye” series.

Alaqua Cox will star in the new series as Maya Lopez, known under the alias "Echo," whose ties to Kingpin were revealed in "Hawkeye." The last viewers saw of the villain was when Echo shot him after turning against his criminal organization. Fans speculate the story will continue from there, but no plot details have yet been revealed.

In addition to being on-screen rivals, Cox and D’Onofrio have struck up a friendship after years of working together. In February, Cox told "The Hollywood Reporter" about D’Onofrio,

“I am imagining, I am hoping, that our worlds will collide again because the stuff we’ve done in the past was tremendous fun to do, and he’s such an incredible actor.”

“Echo” is set to premiere in 2023 on Disney+.
