Chris Pratt is the newest cover star for Men's Health Magazine, but it's not his physique or healthy habits that have people talking.

One of the most notable quotes to come from Pratt's interview with the magazine was about his religion. During the interview, the actor discusses how his reputation online has greatly shifted over the years. At one point, Twitter had seemingly voted the actor as "The Worst Chris" when rumors of him attending Hillsong Church, which has been known for anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, surfaced.

Pratt has publicly denied aligning with their alleged ideologies. In 2019, he stated:

"Faith is important to me but no church defines me or my life, and I am not a spokesman for any church or any group of people."

Now, he openly denies having ever gone to the church. Why didn't he just deny things in 2019? The actor says he didn't want to "throw a church under the bus."

The actor is no stranger to being open about religion. He shared at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards:

“God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you. Don't be a turd."

Chris says he understands why people were "put off" by his speech, admitting that he's "not sure I touched anybody" with his words. He also acknowledges that for many "Religion has been oppressive as f--k for a long time."

“I didn’t know that I would kind of become the face of religion when really I’m not a religious person." The actor said. "I think there’s a distinction between being religious—adhering to the customs created by man, oftentimes appropriating the awe reserved for who I believe is a very real God—and using it to control people, to take money from people, to abuse children, to steal land, to justify hatred."

Many were puzzled at the "not religious" revelation. Looking back, Pratt has been open about his beliefs through posts on Instagram, talking with Stephen Colbert about following the biblical Daniel's Fast and thanking "his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" in another speech in 2017.
