Acting Legend Christopher Plummer Dies at 91

RIP to Christopher Plummer, a legend both on the screen and stage.

The Canadian actor, best known for The Sound of Music and All The Money in the World, passed away Friday, Feb. 5.

Christopher Plummer died peacefully in his Connecticut home with his wife of over 50 years, Elaine Taylor, by his side.

Christopher's long and accomplished career expands over seven decades, and started on Broadway because of his passion for theatre. He made his Broadway debut in 1953 in The Starcross Story, and continued on from here, specializing in Shakespeare. He played various roles in Shakespeare works such as Henry V, Othello, Macbeth, King Lear, and much more.

The legend's television work also began in the 1950's. He went onto star in the popular and Emmy Award-winning television mini-series The Thorn Birds in 1983.

The actor starred as Captain Von Trapp in the 1965 film The Sound Of Music, a role which he is still widely known for.

For his incredible work both on screen and on-stage, Christopher earned many well-deserved awards and nominations. The star won an Academy Award for his role in the 2011 comedy-drama film Beginners at the age of 82, making him the oldest actor to earn an Academy Award.

Additionally, he won two Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Musical in Cyrano and Best Actor in a Play in Barrymore. Plummer also achieved two Emmys for Outstanding Actor in Arthur Hailey's the Moneychangers and Outstanding Voice-Over performance in Madeline.

Plummer was recently seen on screen in the 2019 comedy-mystery film Knives Out, a movie that was widely regarded by critics and audiences alike.

Christopher left an unforgettable career and legacy behind him that will never be forgotten.
