"Rooted" pays tribute to motherhood and Black culture, highlighting families and protestors. It features activists wearing shirts of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, whose murders prompted the Black Lives Matter movement.

Ciara's Empowering Message

Ciara took to Twitter to say:

"To all my Black Queens & Kings, always know everything you need to survive and thrive is rooted in you. A portion of the proceeds from this song will go to support @G4GC_Org. STAY #ROOTED"

Proceeds from the song will go towards Grantmakers for Girls of Color, an organization that invests in support of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian and Pacific American girls in the United States.

The music video ends with a message that reads:

"To all my young Rosa's and Young Luther's keep marching. Don't stop fighting for what you believe in. To all my Black queens and kings, continue to plant and spread seeds of love, hope and pride in your tribe. Everything you need to survive and thrive is rooted in you. Stay rooted."
