A Star is Born with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga
The highly anticipated film A Star is Bornhas been steadily building buzz since its critically acclaimed late-August premiere at the 75th Venice International Film Festival.
The movie follows Jackson Maine, played by Bradley Cooper, a country music star who discovers and falls in love with young singer Ally, played by Lady Gaga.
This latest movie is the story’s fourth incarnation. It originated as a 1937 film, which was adapted into a 1954 musical, and later remade as a 1976 rock musical starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
While the story isn’t new, it does mark a number of firsts. In addition to starring, Bradley Cooper directs and sings for the first time. In preparation, the star committed to 18-months of voice training to believably play a famous and faulty country music star.
On the flip side, Grammy Award winning artist Lady Gaga makes her big screen debut, although she has previously won a Golden Globe for Best Actress for American Horror Story: Hotelon the small screen.
Rounding out the cast are Sam Elliott, Dave Chappelle, and Andrew Dice Clay.
A Star is Born October 5 in theaters.
