Katy Perry and Taylor Swift

Swifties and KatyKats, what do you think?

Katy Perry may have hinted at a future collaboration with Taylor Swift on American Idol.

In the past, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift had a rocky friendship, but the two pop stars have since cleared the air and become thick as thieves. Perry even made a cameo in Taylor's video for You Need To Calm Down back in 2019.

On Monday night's episode of American Idol, Katy was wowed by two female contestants, Althea Grace and Camille Lamb, who belted a cover of Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me." She told the girls they were moving onto the next round, saying, "That's what queens do."

Right after, she looked at fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. "Can you imagine if Taylor and I work together, what we could do?" Perry considered, and Bryan nodded in agreement. American Idol even took to Twitter, sharing the clip and adding some 👀 emojis.

Katy hints at a collab

This statement sent social media users into a frenzy, speculating that a collaboration is on the horizon!

Swifties and KatyKats alike think that Perry could be on Swift's re-recorded version of 1989's "Bad Blood," which was thought to be about Perry. The two had a drawn-out feud in past years, and finally squashed it when Perry sent Swift an olive branch (literally) and an apologetic note to accompany it back in 2018. The girls made their friendship known in the You Need to Calm Down video.

This isn't the first time Perry has hinted at a potential collab with the "Cardigan" singer. Back in 2019, she revealed she was "open" to joining forces with Swift saying, "I think she's really intelligent, and there's lots of layers to her."

Watch Katy Perry co-judge American Idol (and maybe watch out for more potential Swift-collab spoilers) on Mondays at 8 pm on ABC.
