The Christmas season just got a whole lot better

It's only 100 days until Christmas, and country icon Dolly Parton is helping us get ready for the holiday season.

Today, Parton released a brand new single based on the classic Christmas song "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" with of course a Parton spin! She shared the news of the new song on her socials posting:

I always loved the song "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" growing up and I knew I needed to record a version for #AHollyDollyChristmas. I'm excited to share some of the joy of my own childhood with everybody through this song 🎅❤️

A Comedic Dolly Spin

The song was originally made famous by Jimmy Boyd in 1952 and has been famously covered by The Jackson 5, but Parton adds her comedic touch saying:

"I saw it with my own two eyes! Not only were they kissing, they were drinking milk and eating cookies together! Now, I know how to keep a secret, 'cause I wanna stay on Santa's good side! You just tell everything, you know? Mmm mmm!" Even if you're not in the holiday mood yet, you're going to be in it with just one listen."

Take a listen of the new song!

Her upcoming holiday album A Holly Dolly Christmas is set to be released on October 2, and this will be Parton's first Christmas album in 30 years. To make it even more special, Parton has teamed up with some famous music friends including Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon, Billy Ray Cyrus, Willie Nelson, Michael Bublé, and her brother Randy Parton. Back in August, the 74-year-old country music star released another emotional Christmas classic, "Mary, Did You Know?"

Also last month, Parton shared with Billboard what inspired her to write the album:

"I thought, 'I think I'll call it A Holly Dolly Christmas because I love the song "A Holly Jolly Christmas" with Burl Ives. He used to be on all of my Christmas specials all through the years. I think of him as Mr. Christmas. I thought, 'Why don't do I call it something cute and clever, like that or Deck the Halls with Boughs of Dolly, something corny like that.'"

Parton's new album will be available on Amazon Music, Spotify, iTunes Store and all other music platforms on October 2.
