Ellen DeGeneres Posts Emotional Tribute to Worldwide Protests

Ellen DeGeneres/Instagram

DeGeneres took to Instagram to talk about the injustice and protests happening in the world right now.

In the wake of so many important issues going on, many celebrities have begun to speak out against the injustices that are happening. Ellen Degeneres turned to Instagram to post a video on her thoughts regarding the situations occurring in our world today.

#BlackoutTuesday

In the video, Ellen says:

" I have been posting my thoughts and my stance on this but I haven't spoken directly because I don't know what to say. I am so sad and I am so angry, and I know I'm not going to say the right thing. I know that there are going to be a lot of people who are gonna be in disagreement with what I say, but I have a platform and I have a voice and I have always stood for equality."

Ellen's Support

In response to George Floyd, a 46 year old man who died last week due to a police officer holding him down by his knee, many protests are taking place all around the world. It is an issue that has gone on for quite too long and Ellen, along with so many other celebrities could not watch it unfold one more time. In her video, Ellen says:

"People have gotten away with murder and that's what is happening. So, we've got to see fairness and we've got to see justice for all, because right now, this is not a fair world. Not at all."

Celebrities Calling For Change

Some of the other celebrities who have used social media as a way to call for change after Floyd include Barack Obama, George Clooney, and Adele. This pain is felt throughout the world and platforms are finally being used as a way to bring people to realize change is necessary. While talking about the need for change in her video, Ellen says:

"We have a long way to go to even get close to being fair. If you don't understand this then you have never felt like you weren't heard or you weren't equal. But if you've ever felt that, magnify it and see what's happening. Let's send a whole bunch of love out there and try to find some peace and some communication in this."

People all around the world are hoping that change will happen and that this will be the last time injustice has to be on the news.
