The 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour picks up where it left off two years ago.

After nearly two years on hiatus, rock legend Elton John has returned to the stage for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally postponed in March 2020, John's tour came to a halt after over a year on the road. After being rescheduled, it was once again pushed back in September 2021, so the singer could undergo hip surgery. Finally, the 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' Tour has resumed in New Orleans to a sold out crowd.

As Elton told the audience,

“You have been holding on to these tickets for 745 days."

While he's ecstatic to be back, this tour was always meant to be his last. John still has a year of shows left, before a final send off in Sweden in 2023. He says on the subject,

“I want to do something different with the rest of my life. But first I want to finish [the tour] in the best way possible. In the most triumphant way possible. [...] I've been touring since I was 17, in the back of a van. I’ve had the most incredible life. I’ve been so lucky and I’ve loved every single minute of it, but I’ve had enough of that applause.”

As he approaches fifty years on the charts with new singles featuring Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa, the icon has certainly left his mark. The musician says he wishes to spend the rest of his days not focused on his career, but on his family.
