The Emmys are airing this Sunday. Cedric The Entertainer is set to host. Here's everything you need to know...

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards are set to take place this Sunday and our Sonia Isabelle has all the latest news in today's Dish!

The show will be hosted by the legendary Cedric The Entertainer. Upon finding out that he was set to be the host back in July, Cedric joked "I ain't even a Jimmy!" With Cedric serving as the host, it would seem that all things are going as planned. However, due to the threat of the delta variant, some changes were made. First of all, guests will be required to show proof of vaccination as well as a negative COVID test. Rather than the event taking place inside the Microsoft Theater which houses one of the largest indoor stages in the country, the event will take place outside the theater. Also, the red carpet is not being rolled out quite as extravagantly as previously planned. Unfortunately, the spotlight had to be dimmed due to the restrictions.

Actor and Comedian Kenan Thompson is a frontrunner this year with not one but two nominations: Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series. Thompson was recognized for his role on Saturday Night Live as well as his contribution to his eponymous sitcom, Kenan. Upon receiving the news, Thompson took to Instagram to share his excitement. Thompson's costar, Bowen Yang is also up for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series. Yang is making already making history as the first Chinese-American actor to get nominated in the category.

In other Emmy news, TV legend Debbie Allen is set to receive the Governors Award. According to the Emmys website, it is awarded:

"to an individual, company, organization or project for outstanding achievement in the arts and sciences or management of television which is either of a cumulative nature or so extraordinary and universal in nature as to go beyond the scope of the Emmy Awards presented in the categories and areas of the competition."

The 73rd Primetime Emmys air this Sunday on CBS at 8:00pm EST. The event will also be available to stream on Paramount Plus.
