Iconic Golden Globes Moments From Previous Award Shows

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

Here's the list of the most iconic moments of the Golden Globes of the past years.

The Golden Globes are almost here. Take a trip down memory lane with us for the most iconic moments from the iconic award show.

2000 : Jim Carrey's Speech

How can we forget Jim Carrey's hilarious speech at the Golden Globes 2000? The sentence "I'm the Tom Hanks of the Golden Globes" at the beginning of his speech was nothing short of iconic

2001:  Elizabeth Taylor Almost Reads Winner Before Hand

The Golden Globes 2001 were shaped by this moment, when Elizabeth Taylor (a little drunk) started reading the winner of the drama category before naming the nominees. She said "I'm new at this!" as the crowd tries to help her.

2005: Jamie Foxx's Speech

Beautiful speech by Jamie Foxx as he accepted his Golden Globe for the role of Ray Charles. This iconic speech has everything you need: it's funny and yet deeply moving. Towards the end of the speech, the actor breaks down crying thanking his grandmother. Needless to say, we all teared up with him.

2009: Tina Fey and The Iconic "You Can Suck It"

Tina Fey is hilarious. There's no denying this. As she accepted her Golden Globe award in 2009, the actress said: "if you ever start to feel too good about yourself, they have this thing called the Internet." She then tells the haters to literally "suck it."

2013: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Opening

The 2013 opening is something we just could never forget. The opening was everything we needed, as Fey and Poehler confront every single one of the Golden Globes nominees.

2018: Natalie Portman and the All Male Nominees

Do we really need to explain why this is iconic? Natalie Portman called out Hollywood with fierce determination for not including women in the Best Director category.

2019: Sandra Oh and Andy Samber Monologue

Funny, eclectic, simply outstanding. The moment where Sandra Oh says that Crazy Rich Asians is "the first studio film with an Asian American lead since Ghost in the Shell and Aloha." Ouch. Yet, Iconic.

2020: Brad Pitt and Titanic

Last, but not least, The 2020 Golden Globes was iconic in part thanks to Pitt, who said that if he had been Leonardo Di Caprio, well...He would've "shared the raft" with Kate Winslet in Titanic.

The only thing left at this point is to tune in this Sunday to see new iconic moments that we will remember for a long time!
