Just days after addressing body-shamers on TikTok, the pop singer took to the platform again to let fans in on their current musical struggles.

Unfortunately, instead of sharing release dates for their upcoming songs, the "Now or Never" singer shared what appears to be a snippet of a new song over a video explaining that their label isn't clearing it for release until one condition is met.

In the video, the singer wrote:

"My record company is saying that I can't release it unless they can fake a viral moment on TikTok."

Despite being an established artist who has "been in this industry for eight years" and has "sold over 165 million records" even Halsey isn't safe from the phenomenon that is TikTok.

They also wrote in the video:

"I just want to release music, man. And I deserve better."

In the beginning of their career, Halsey signed with a record company called Astralwerks, whose material is distributed by Capitol Records, the label they since have become an artist at. In a statement released by Astralwerks, they supported the artist in their ongoing feud saying:

“Our belief in Halsey as a singular and important artist is total and unwavering. We can’t wait for the world to hear their brilliant new music.”

Despite having gone viral on TIkTok with this recent post, the new mom says it's not enough for their label. They took to Twitter to answer fans' questions on the matter and stated:

"It’s not about making the TikToks I already make TikToks! They are saying if they don’t reach some imaginary goalpost of views or virality than they won’t give me a release date at all."

Halsey also stated that a music video has already been filmed, the only thing preventing the process from going forward is the need for a viral TikTok moment.

Halsey is currently on their "Love and Power Tour" and has entertained the thought of just performing the song live without actually releasing a studio version.
