Adding onto its impressive list of accolades and awards, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton continues to smash records with its 2020 film release on the Disney+ streaming platform. Hamilton, the 2020 film, received a remarkable 12 nominations for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, further solidifying its success among audiences.

Released worldwide for audiences to stream on Disney+ on July 3, 2020, Hamilton was met with the same admiration as the original Broadway show. Along with being one of the most streamed films of 2020, the American Film Institute also named it as one of the best films of 2020. Even more notable, the Broadway musical Hamilton had already received 16 Tony Award nominations, winning 11 awards with one of them being the award for Best Musical. To top it all off, it won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama along with a Grammy Award for the Best Musical Theater Album.

Though the Disney+ version of Hamilton was ineligible to receive any Oscar nominations, it was eligible for Emmy nominations since it's a pre-recorded film. This allowed its cast members who performed in the original Broadway performance to also be up for Emmy nominations as well.

Multiple cast members received nominations for their roles in the Disney+ version of Hamilton, including both Lin-Manuel Miranda and Leslie Odom Jr., both up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie category. Leslie Odom Jr. touched upon the surrealism of the film's success.

To be honest I have achieved far more than I ever thought was possible. If I could just make a living doing this thing that I love to do, it would have meant the world, it's as good as it gets.

Nominated for Best Supporting Actor, Hamilton stars Daveed Diggs, Anthony Ramos, and Jonathan Groff are all in the running.

Other Emmy nominations Hamilton is up for include Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Picture Editing for Variety Programming, and Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special.
