Jason Biggs Recalls Turning Down 'How I Met Your Mother' Role His "Biggest Regret"

Jason Biggs' Biggest Regret

The actor was set to play Ted Mosby in the popular sitcom.

Jason Biggs is revealing the regret of his career: turning down a large role in what would become a top American sitcom.

The American Pie star recently guest-starred on Sirius XM's The Covino and Rich Show, in which cohost Rich Davis inquired if there was truth to Biggs turning down the leading protagonist role of Ted Mosby in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. "I was offered the role, yes... it's probably my biggest regret" Biggs confesses.

He went on to reveal that the reason for turning down the role came from his hesitance to enter the television industry. "I didn't know that I was quite ready to go that route. I was still making movies at the time." He admits.

Despite turning down the role, Biggs had nothing but nice things to say about the show itself. "It's a really cool, fun script- I mean it was definitely original and funny and the whole thing - I was right for it - and then I passed on it."

Adding to the irony of the situation, Biggs explained that two things happened after he said "No, thank you." One of them being that the show blew up, of course, and along with it a realization; that Biggs finally decided that he wanted to break into TV.

When asked if his former "American Pie" costar and HIMYM star, Alyson Hannigan, had given him a hard time for passing up the role, he replied, "We've never really talked about it, and I don't know that she knows." realized the actor.

"Big picture, I have no regrets. Right? I'm very lucky, very fortunate. I'm still here," Said Biggs, with a positive perspective. "That's number one. But yeah, if I had to pick out something I wish I had done differently, I would've taken that gig for sure. Absolutely."

The actor ended up finally giving television a shot, starring in Fox's sitcom, "Outmatched". Unfortunately, the show only lasted one season. Biggs' latest role is the host of Fox trivia show, "Cherries Wild". The show's special event premiere will occur this Sunday, February 14th at 7p/6c.
