Jenna Marbles Is Stepping Away From Youtube After Apologizing For Offensive Videos

Jenna Marbles

Jenna Marbles is taking a hiatus from Youtube after ten years.

Youtube star Jenna Marbles has apologized for offensive and racist videos she has made in the past. She mentions that she will be taking time away from Youtube, which may be permanent.

Marbles mentions in the video that she has locked the majority of her old videos which date back to 2010. She singled out videos including one where Marbles appeared in blackface impersonating Nicki Minaj and a rap video that made racist remarks about Asians and people of Asian descent. Marbles expressed her regret by saying:

"I don't want someone to watch something and feel hurt or offended now for any reason, at all. I'm ashamed of things I've said and done in my past."

In addition to those videos, Marbles also apologized for her series of videos, 'What Girls Do' and 'What Guys Do' that comment on stereotypical gender roles. She explains her reasoning of locking the content by saying:

"I have privated all of them because I don't think that making jokes about your gender is funny and I know that there is a lot of people that struggle with their identity and that have varying fluid identities."

After joining Youtube in 2010, Marbles has accumulated more than 3 billion views and 20.2 million followers. Throughout the years, Marbles felt that keeping her old content on her channel would allow viewers to see how much she has grown in the past ten years, but is now coming to the realization that the content should not exist at all.

With such a huge following, fans took to twitter to comment on her decision of leaving Youtube:
