JUST MERCY Official Trailer

Warner Bros. has made Just Mercy starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, and Brie Larson available for free for the entire month of June as a way to educate viewers on criminal justices issues.

Just Mercy revolves around the story of Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan), who goes to Alabama to defend those that are wrongly condemned or cannot afford a lawyer. His first case ends up being Walter McMillan (Jamie Foxx), who was sentenced to die in 1987 for the murder of a young girl, although his innocence was proven. The film follows the racism that Stevenson faces as he tries to defend McMillan.

Warner Bros. released a statement about why they chose to make this film free right now. In it they say:

"We believe in the power of story. Our film 'Just Mercy,' based on the life work of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson, is one resource we can humbly offer to those who are interested in learning more about the systemic racism that plagues our society."

The decision to make the film free came a week after protests began due to the death of George Floyd. Just Mercy received a lot of great attention when first released and is an extremely important film to watch, especially at a time as crucial as this one.
