Police investigate rapper for allegedly punching a fan.

The LAPD has confirmed that Kanye West is under investigation for alleged battery. He is not under arrest as of the moment, and has not made a public statement.

The incident occurred between Wednesday night and Thursday morning around 3am. West was at a members-only nightclub with his girlfriend, Julia Fox. While sitting in his SUV outside, a fan approached West to ask for an autograph. West allegedly punched him, knocking him to the ground. LAPD spokesperson reports,

"Kanye West was exiting a local eatery and he became engaged with the victim, a male. The victim called the police. By the time police got there, Kanye West was gone. We are following up and investigating what the alleged battery was about."

TMZ obtained a video of West lashing out and yelling as he was leaving the club without Fox,

"Did y'all say that or not? Did y'all say that or not? Cuz that's what happened right f****** now."

TMZ claims West is being investigated for misdemeanor battery, but LAPD Media Relations state police has not confirmed the type or degree of battery. Misdemeanor battery would carry a maximum prison sentence of six months.

This news breaks just after West was announced to headline the Coachella festival in April, alongside Harry Styles and Billie Eilish. West is also in the midst of a divorce with Kim Kardashian, who has recently been seen with comedian Pete Davidson.

LAPD will continue to investigate and release information as it becomes available. West has yet to comment on the matter.
