Kim Kardashian West recently turned 40 years old, and (no surprise) the Keeping Up star celebrated in a big way. Kardashian West rented out a private Island for her closest friends and family.
She shared more details on her Instagram, saying:
"After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time."
That "inner circle" was made up of approximately 30 guests, including her mega-famous family members Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian and Kris Jenner. The only sibling that did not make it was Kylie Jenner.
Kim revealed exactly what the week looked like, writing:
"We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is."
Unfortunately, Kim's "humble brag" wasn't received well. The star received backlash for flaunting her luxurious getaway amid the Covid-19 pandemic, when countless people are desperately struggling. Peter Frampton was just one of the celebrities that reacted.

Sister Khloé Kardashian came to Kim's rescue. On a recent appearance on The Ellen Show, Khloé said:
"This year is a frustrating year; I get it. I think there's so many frustrations going on for everybody, but also, it's her 40th, and this is something that she really wanted to do. For us, it was such a nice thing."
Kim's birthday festivities also included a surprise birthday party that her family threw. According to the star, the night was a recreation of all of the "special birthdays throughout my life."
And what's a birthday party without a hologram, right? Husband Kanye West made the celebration even more over-the-top by gifting Kim a hologram of her late father Robert Kardashian.
