Basketball star LeBron James has reportedly just bought a new home in Beverly Hills. James is also the owner of two homes in Brentwood, in which he bought after signing with the Lakers back in 2018. This Beverly Hills mansion, however, has previously had some notable owners.
Constructed in the 1930s
According toVariety, the Mediterranean-style mansion was built for Academy Award-nominated actor Charles Boyer. Boyer starred in many popular films such as Gaslight and Love Affair. Boyer and his wife Pat Paterson lived together in this home in the hills. Boyer did not live here for too long, though, as his contract with RKO pictures ended and Howard Hughes, owner of RKO, was the one who owned the property because of settlement negotiations. Hughes leased the property and actress Katharine Hepburn lived in the home in the 1940s.
Lee Phillip Bell
Following Hepburn, the next star to own the mansion didn't come until 1986, when soap opera creator Lee Phillip Bell and her husband William J. Bell bought it for $2.9 million and refurbished it. The two have now passed away and the home was back on the market for the first time in over three decades. Though it is unclear how much James is paying, the mansion had a $39 million asking price.
Your house doesn't have seven fireplaces?
According to Zillow, the property is 2.5 acres and the house has a measurement of 9,146 square feet. The home also has four bedrooms and eight bathrooms. In the mansion, James can cozy up to one of seven fireplaces, or jump in the pool, play on the tennis court (we can assume he'll turn it into a basketball court), or look out at the view of LA and the Santa Monica mountains.
After Charles Boyer, Katharine Hepburn, and Lee Phillip Bell, LeBron James is now the fourth star to buy this Beverly Hills mansion.
