Get Ready To Sing And Dance With ABBA Again!

Mamma Mia tells the mother-daughter story of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) and her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep). Raised by a single mother, Sophie grows curious about who her father is. As she prepares for her wedding, she invites three of Donna's past flames (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård), in hopes of finding her father. The 2018 sequel dives into the backstory of Donna, played by Lily James, and further explores Donna's flings with all three men in addition to the rise of her band, Donna and the Dynamos.

Does Your Mother Know That A Third Movie Is In The Works?

Judy Craymer, the producer of the original stage production and the film adaptations, revealed in an interview with Daily Mail that there is a third film in the works, saying:

"I was meant to have been getting on with that, in my head, during these months. But then I got hit with COVID fog. I think one day there will be another film, because there's meant to be a trilogy, you see. I know Universal would like me to do it."

The Name Of The Game: Seyfried's Up For The Challenge!

Amanda Seyfried recently sat down in an interview with Collider to discuss the fate of a third movie, revealing that there might not be enough content. But don't worry! She's not giving up hope. The star saying:

"Listen, every single person in that movie would say yes in a heartbeat because we want to hang out with each other. That's what we talked about last time, like did we ever think that we'd end up here again on an Island in Croatia? So yeah, I wish there was a Mamma Mia 3, but I'll tell you what – I've said it before and I'll say it again and I hope I'm wrong again. I don't think there are enough ABBA songs to make a third movie. Because we'd have to use "Super Trooper" again and we'd have to use "Mamma Mia" again and have to use them in a different way."
