The upcoming documentary on Marilyn Monroe's life is revealing a major family secret.

The production of the new investigative documentary "Marilyn, Her Final Secret" has wrapped, and it's shedding light on an answer to a major question regarding Monroe's life.

According to Variety, the one hour documentary directed by Francois Pomès, is based off of exclusive DNA research that was conducted by a molecular archaeology expert named Ludovic Orlando. Orlando obtained a hair sample to extract her DNA profile from the renown auctioneer and authenticator, John Reznikoff. Orlando also acquired a saliva sample from the great-grandchild of Monroe’s suspected father, Charles Stanley Gifford.

Being born as Norma Jeane Baker, the American actress grew up in and out of foster homes as her mother struggled to make ends meet. Pomès confirmed the big reveal stating,

“The hair that we used from Monroe was collected by the person who embalmed her body the day she died and we were able to draw up 22% of her genetic profile from that thanks to a DNA fragment found in the keratin," Pomès said.

Spending years and endless nights on this project, Pomès added,

The thing that touched me the most was seeing the reaction of Gifford’s family who were overwhelmed by this irrefutable evidence,” Pomès said.

'Marilyn, Her Final Secret' is set for a June release on French channel Toute l'Histoire.
