Marlo Thomas was the lady of the night at the Children’s Institute’s 31st Annual Colleagues Spring Luncheon!

The actress was joined by husband Phil Donahue for the event, which recognized Thomas for her longtime impact on the lives of children.

St. Jude’s is really what’s being honored,” said Thomas when our BJ Korros caught up with her on the big night. “I’m excited to work for them, and it’s a privilege to know that we really are saving children’s lives around the world.”

Also at the event to celebrate their sister was Terry and Tony Thomas, who have worked with Marlo at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital ever since they were in their teens.

“It wasn’t a huge transition for us to care about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, but we didn’t expect to really carry the torch,” said Marlo of her siblings.

Legendary talk show host Phil Donahue joined wife Marlo on the red carpet to celebrate her dedication to philanthropy.

“She moves sideways, backward, and then occasionally, she flies,” he told Korros. “I just have to be patient and wait for her to come down. She’s boundless energy. At our wedding, her father Danny Thomas raised his glass and said, ‘I haven’t lost a daughter; I’ve gained a fundraiser!’”
