Amid the coronavirus pandemic, real life celebrities are performing tremendous acts of selflessness for their communities. On Sunday night, CNN honored the frontline heroes of year with their annual CNN Heroes event. The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, surprised viewers with a special message.


According to CNN, Markle's appearance was unscheduled. The Duchess praised those who are supporting those around them, while also shedding light on the struggles many are facing during these uncertain times.

Markle shares in her statement,

"...I'm inspired by the stories of compassion in our communities. Across the country, people have put their own needs aside to come together to support the collective wellbeing of those around them."

The Duchess ends her powerful message with,

"Even in the darkest times, when we come together we have the power to remind someone else that there is hope and that we will be okay,"
