Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against The Universe

Mom! Phineas and Ferb are making a new movie!

While our 104-day-long summer vacation has been interrupted by quarantine, Phineas and Ferb creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh recently ensured that a new movie following the beloved brothers may just come around just to end it.

Disney Plus News tweeted about the announcement after Entertainment Weekly sat down with the creators to talk about the decision to bring their beloved characters back to life for another adventure ever since the series ended in 2015.

The creators knew that they had to create something fresh that the series had never seen before in their 189 episode run. Povenmire had this to say about the movie's new concept:

""It's a different story than we often told with the show. We decided we had never really put Candace in jeopardy and told any rescue stories that way."

Thus, the story follows Phineas, Ferb and the rest of the gang as they attempt to rescue Candace from an alien planet and will be titled Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against The Universe.

The creators promise something for old and new fans alike with the return of familiar voice actors such as Ashley Tisdale and Alyson Stoner and the same musical catalog that the series exhibits. Old fans can hunt for Easter eggs and clues from the characters and relationships they grew up with while new fans get a fun introduction to the franchise.

Povenmire had this to say about that challenge of catering to two audiences:

"It's a tightrope walk when you have a whole generation of [fans] that you know are going to tune into this, and you want to give them stuff, but you also want to give the new people something that they can they can digest, but we just wanted to make sure that the people who grew up with Phineas and Ferb would love the movie. We're hoping that this show gets watched in college dorm rooms all over the country.

Efforts for the movie have moved inside due to Coronavirus as artists and animators continue work on the film from home. While no exact date for the movie has been released yet, fans can relive their summers spent with those curious brother by binging the entire series right now on Disney+.

And if you are looking for more content, Povenmire, also voice of Dr. Doofenschmirtz, has taken to TikTok to show off his voice talent and curse Perry the Platypus once again.
