Paramount Network Cancels 'Cops' Amid Worldwide Protests

Paramount Network cuts ties with Cops, cancelling the upcoming season.

The long-running television show Cops is coming to an end after 31 years.

In the wake of the global protests against police brutality, ViacomCBS had originally delayed the premiere of Cops. Now, the network cancelling the show all together.

According to USA Today, a spokesperson for the cable network announced:

"Cops is not on the Paramount Network and we don't have any current or future plans for it to return."

Old episodes of Cops will continue to air on WGN America until the end of June, while episodes are currently still available for streaming on Pluto TV.

In addition the cancellation, A&E pulled last week's episode of Live PD. However, Live PD host Dan Abrams took to twitter assuring fans they are not cancelling the series:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, new episodes of Live PD are unlikely to air Friday and Saturday, although A&E are still evaluating things.

Cops and Live PD have faced scrutiny over the past years due to the poor portrayal of victims and aggressive police tactics that are now coming to light.
