Two high-profile Broadway superstars are temporarily trading in the stage for a show set for an unexpected project! Audra McDonald and Phillipa Soo are starring in the new zombie thriller series, The Bite.

Audra McDonald is a six-time Tony Award winner, actress, and singer.

Phillipa Soo is best known for her role as Eliza Hamilton in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway sensation, Hamilton. Soo also won a Tony Award for Lead Actress in a Musical for her leading role.

On their new series, The Bite, a deadly second wave of the coronavirus turns sick patients into zombies.

"The pandemic seemed to cap off this wild ride we've all been on, and so to sort of put it into this sort of zombie genre, it doesn't seem far-fetched to me at all. That's the other thing, too. As crazy as it all looks and seems, it could absolutely happen," McDonald said.
"I think it lends itself to giving us a new way of looking at this time, just with the shift of tone, with a little bit of humor, a little bit of darkness, just to really give us a perspective of what this crazy world is," Soo said.

To make the show even more real, it also stars both Audra and Phillipa's husbands!

"It certainly made our commute convenient," quips Phillipa's husband, Steven Pasquale.

Audra's husband, Will Swenson, talks about the added pressure to do well when starring alongside his Tony-winning wife.

"Does she like me as a scene partner? I can't tell, I don't know!" Swenson said.
