Who's the Artist Behind Your Favorite TikTok Sound?

#RicoNasty, #AndersonPaak, and #Benee join our lineup for the best #TikTok sounds out there.

We all love a good TikTok sound. It's addictive, it's catchy, and they're often made by incredible artists. But, what many people might not know is that most artists who blow up on TikTok have a whole catalogue of great music for you to enjoy!

BENEE

Benee was one of the first artists whose career exploded because of the app. Back in 2019, her single Supalonely featuring Gus Dapperton became one of the biggest sounds on the entire app, largely thanks to the exploits of Charli Damelio.

But Benee is so much more than Supalonely. The budding pop star from New Zealand has one of the best catalogues I've ever seen from someone so new to the game, and has genuinely become my favorite pop singer in the last year.

Songs to check out:

Same Effect, linked above

Glitter, from her debut EP FIRE ON MARZZ.

Evil Spider, from the same EP.

Earl Sweatshirt

Going through my article history will tell you that I'm a bit of an Earl fanboy, so I do admit bias here.

The audio to his song Riot! off his 2018 album Some Rap Songs didn't exactly blow up on TikTok, but it's found a steady home and a good deal of success there.

What you may not know is that Earl is easily one of the best lyricists ever. He belongs on the same pedestal as an MF Doom or an Eminem without question. If you don't believe me, check these songs out:

Mantra, off the album IDLSIDGO.

Sunday featuring Frank Ocean off the album Doris.

Hive from the Doris album.

Miguel

An edit of the hit Miguel song Sure Thing is currently making the rounds and becoming a big sound. He's already established himself as one of the biggest and most successful R&B artists of this generation, but just in case you don't know already, here's some more songs:

All I Want is You feat. J Cole

waves- Tame Impala remix

Skywalker feat. Travis Scott

Rico Nasty

DC native and queen Rico Nasty went viral on TikTok both for her single OHFR? and her hysterical account. Rico might be the most promising rapper coming out of the DMV right now, which in a lineup featuring the likes of IDK, Goldlink, and Cordae, is high praise.

More songs to check out:

¡aqui yo mando! with Kali Uchis

Own It, part of the single launch for OHFR?

Smack a Bitch, her biggest hit to date

MF DOOM

For years, MF DOOM was the undisputed king of underground hip hop, being dubbed "Your favorite rapper's favorite rapper". He was well respected, universally acclaimed, but never seeked to make hits or expand his brand.

After his death, the small but very vocal community that loves Metal Face started hyping him up on TikTok, causing the rapper's classic Rhymes Like Dimes to take off. If you want to get into more technical, lyrically dense hip hop, there's no better place to start than the Masked MC himself.

More songs to check out:

THAT'S THAT

Meddle with Metal on his collab album with Czarface

According from Madvillainy

Anderson .Paak

Despite his meteoric rise over the last few years and upcoming collab album with Bruno Mars, there are still far too many people who aren't acquainted with this angel voiced man.

His song from the Grammy nominated Malibu, Heart Don't Stand a Chance, went viral late last year on TikTok. Everything has been going .Paak's way for a long time now, and it's not hard to understand why. His music is as unique as his voice, and his rise from homelessness to a Grammy nomination is as inspiring as it gets.

Here are some songs to check out:

Parking Lot from the album Malibu

Tints feat. Kendrick Lamar from the album Oxnard

Make it Better feat Smokey Robinson, also from Oxnard
