Queen Latifah is Back With a New CBS Series "The Equalizer"

Queen Latifah has spent more time recently behind the camera than in front, so it's a welcome sight to see her back In the new series from CBS, "The Equalizer." From the 1980's series starring Edward Woodward, to the film versions with Denzel Washington, it's a refreshing spin to be offered a female version and there is no one better to bring that character to life.

The former Dana Owens began her career as one of the first female rappers in 1989 with her debut album, "All Hail the Queen." A string of recordings followed as did work in film and TV. Always a performer who brought energy and authenticity to her roles, she has a string of award wins and nominations. Yet accolades and statues are not the only barometer of success and Queen Latifah decided to expand her influence and put in the work as a producer, director and most importantly as an advocate for women and women of color.

"I think wherever there is a lack of female voices, there's a deficit. Whenever a woman's voice is not heard, included, respected, you're gonna lose. Your'll never be as great as you could be.

If there is anyone up to the task of handling the demands of producing as well as starring in the role of "The Equalizer" it would be our #seeherofficial Spotlight Celebrity, The Queen!
