New Chilling Details Surface Surrounding 'Riverdale's' Ryan Grantham Murdering His Mother

Netflix

Earlier this week, new information surrounding Barbara Waite’s murder revealed chilling details about the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and "Riverdale" actor Ryan Grantham. Grantham plead guilty in March 2020 for second degree murder of his mother, Waite.

During his sentencing in a Canadian court on Monday, a video of the 24-year-old killing his mother resurfaced, which showed Waite’s dead body. CBC says, in the video, Grantham described what he had done:

"I shot her in the back of the head. In the moments after, she would have known it was me."

After committing the irreversible crime, according to CBC, the prosecutors read aloud to the court Grantham’s intentions, which were written in his private journal, to also murder Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

He then, “loaded his car with three guns, ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, camping supplies and a printed Google map with directions to Rideau Cottage in Ottawa.” After testing the cocktails in an open area, he decided to drive back and turn himself in.

CBC claimed two psychiatric reports of Grantham were also shown in court. The prosecutor, Michaela Donnelly, had said that "Mr. Grantham was seeking to save his mother from something he was going to do.”

The reports illustrate that the former child actor was suffering severely from mental illnesses, a cannabis addiction and had violent impulses with suicidal thoughts.

Though the sentencing has not yet been made public, Grantham will most likely, per Canada’s justice law, “be sentenced to imprisonment for life without eligibility for parole until the person has served twenty-five years of the sentence.”
