Let the games begin!

After over a year of delays, Free Guy with Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer is finally here. Our Rachel Smith sat down with the stars of the action-comedy film which was originally scheduled to be released July 3, 2020.

“It took a village that's for sure, but it's probably my favorite movie I've ever done, it really is. It's just one of those things that I think is super timely. You get to walk out of the theater grinning ear to ear and I miss just having a great time at the movies," Reynolds said.

With a catalogue like Deadpool, Detective Pikachu, and more, it's a big statement for Reynolds to say Free Guy is his favorite movie of his. That statement alone is enough to get audiences excited to be back in the theaters for this absolute joyride of a film. Reynolds went on to talk about how "Fantasy" by Mariah Carey went on to become sort of the film's theme song:

"Several of us took passes at the script, so on my pass I remember I put in the song "Fantasy" and from that moment on the song just became an engine for us. Then we panicked because I did that dumb thing of putting it in the script where we didn't have rights to it. So I remember I had to call Mariah, I was given a number to call, and she answered! It was amazing and she said she would love to be a part of the movie."

It really isn't a Ryan Reynolds movie without some 90s R&B in the soundtrack. Now, he even has Mariah Carey promoting the movie on her social media!

Reynolds's co-star Jodie Comer went on to say this about her on-screen romance with Reynolds.

“It's great and I think there's also something really clever about the editing and where they cut out of certain moments. They never let it get too soppy," Comer said.

You may recognize Comer as Villanelle from Killing Eve, the show for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award. But Free Guy is Comer's first leading lady role on the big screen as she makes the leap from television. You can't get much better than starring alongside Ryan Reynolds.

The only way to see Free Guy is in theaters, so make sure to go out and see it today!
