On Monday, the cast of Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings assembled for the world premiere in Hollywood.

The latest film in the MCU stars Kim Convenience's Simu Liu as lead character Shang-Chi, a kung-fu master who revisits his past after getting involved with the Ten Rings organization.

Along with Liu, the film stars Crazy Rich Asian's actresses Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh and actor Tony Chiu-Wai Leung.

Destin Daniel Cretton, known for The Glass Castle and Just Mercy, directed the film.

The premiere comes after comments made by Disney CEO Bob Chapek sparked controversy.

According to Variety, Chapek said that the film's exclusive theatrical release would be an "interesting experiment" for Disney since all other movies released during the Covid-19 pandemic were released in theaters and on Disney Plus Premier Access simultaneously.

Liu responded via an Instagram post.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will premiere in theaters on September 3.
