It's official. The Wendy Williams Show will be ending and will be replaced by a show hosted by Sherri Shepherd.

The new daytime show titled Sherri will assume the time slots on Fox owned-and-operated stations that have supported Williams’ talk show since 2008, producer and distributor Debmar-Mercury said.

Company co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein said in a statement,

“Since Wendy is still not available to host the show as she continues on her road to recovery, we believe it is best for our fans, stations and advertising partners to start making this transition now. We hope to be able to work with Wendy again in the future, and continue to wish her a speedy and full recovery."

The company declined to comment further on her health issues, Williams herself has not discussed other than generalities.

Given the ongoing uncertainty regarding Williams, the switch to Shepherd was made for much needed stability, especially as changes in daytime TV are around the corner. Ellen DeGeneres’ long-running talk show ends this season, which will leave viewers in search for new shows to watch.
