Attention, soap fans! Our Sonia Isabelle connected with Soap Opera Digest editorial director Stephanie Sloane to get the latest scoop on soap news.

First off, a General Hospital character you know and love is getting recast. Billy Miller is stepping down from the role of Jason Morgan's twin Drew Cain. He's making way for Cameron Mathison to take over. Mathison is currently working on the latest installment of the Murder She Baked film series with Alison Sweeney. The soap veteran shared a photo of his portrayal of Drew to Instagram:

In other casting news, Kirsten Storms is back as Maxie on General Hospital following the actress’s long recovery from a brain surgery. Storms had a large cyst in her brain that had split in two, stepping away from the show several weeks ago. Fortunately, Storms is on the mend and set to return to General soon. As one cast member returns to General, two other cast members are departing from Days of Our Lives. That’s right, both Isabel Durant and Cameron Johnson are set to make their departure. The onscreen love interests are leaving the show after a short run of only about a year each. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of familiar faces in the new Days spin-off Beyond Salem: including Christie Clark, Austin Peck, Chandler Massey, Greg Rikaart, and Eileen Davidson. Y&R’s Zach Tinker is joining the star-studded cast of the Peacock spin-off as Sonny.

Another storyline update from Days of Our Lives has to do with Lani and Paulina’s relationship; it turns out that Paulina is Lani’s mother! This gets revealed during a visit from Paulina’s mother Olivia. Some more familial drama includes The Bold and The Beautiful’s Finn finding out that Sheila is his biological mother. With this realization comes a whole lot of lies.
