The Bad Boys television spin-off stood as Spectrum's first original series after its debut in 2019 and after two seasons it is coming to an end.

Starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, LA's Finest, was a spin-off of the Bad Boys franchise, in which Union played Syd Burnett, a revival of her role from Sony's Bad Boys II, as Detective Marcus Burnett's sister.

Syd Burnett and Nancy Mckenna

Union and Alba starred as two detectives who balanced each other out with their opposite personalities. Inspired by the relationship of Detective Mike Lowrey and Detective Marcus Burnett, played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, Syd Burnett and Nancy Mckenna (Alba) had different priorities, which seemed to always clash when the two were in the work environment. Syd Burnett, similar to Mike Lowrey, put work above everything else, while Nancy Mckenna, similar to Marcus Burnett, put self-growth on the top shelf.

Season 2 Trailer

Brandon Margolis, Brandon Sonnier, Sony Pictures TV, Jerry Bruckheimer TV and 2.0 Entertainment created the series as an NBC pilot. However, the show did not go to series and Sony Pictures TV found a new home for the show at Spectrum.

Despite, the A-list cast and strong launch, the show is coming to an end after two seasons. There is no official word from Spectrum on the cancellation, however many are speculating that is due to the acts of police brutality around America, as the show was supposed to air in June 2020 and was delayed to a September premiere, where all 13 episodes were released altogether.

Possible Reunion

Many fans hope to see the duo in action again, possibly in a Bad Boys film. Sony has confirmed the production of Bad Boys 4 and although there is no official word on the cast, many are hoping Union and Alba may make a cameo.

Season 1 of LA's Finest is airing on Fox and the full season can be viewed on many streaming platforms including Hulu, Amazon, and Spectrum Originals.

Season 2 of LA's Finest can be viewed exclusively on Spectrum Originals.
