Stephen Colbert And James Corden Return To The Studio (Kind Of)

Stephen Colbert Returns To The Historic Ed Sullivan Theater... Office Building

The CBS late night hosts have officially returned for in-studio tapings after months of filming from home.

The coronavirus pandemic changed a lot of things in the entertainment industry, but one of the biggest changes that occurred was the shift in how late night talk shows would continue.

After months of filming and editing from the comfort of their homes, Stephen Colbert and James Corden returned to the studio to film Monday's episodes.

Colbert opened up his show with his classic monologue and expressed to fans just how long he has been out of the studio, as well as offered gratitude to his family for helping him through those months. He shared:

"This is the first time I haven't done the show in my house in five months. I'm so happy to be here to see members of my crew. As much as it's nice to see my crew here in the building, I do want to thank my wife and kids again for everything they did to help produce the show while I was home."

Although Colbert is back in the studio, things are still a bit different than before. He is not actually filming from the stage, but from upstairs in the Ed Sullivan Theater office space. Colbert's crew moved stuff from his actual office space into this one, in order to make it feel more exciting to film there.

The Late Late Show with James Corden

James Corden also returned to Studio 56 in Los Angeles, where his show is filmed. In classic Corden fashion, he opened up the show poking fun at all the new safety precautions in place at the studio. The sketch features him bumping into several "germ shields" as he tries to make his way onto the stage. After several bumps along the way fans can hear Corden say:

"It's still better than the garage, it's still better than the garage."

Fans could not be more excited to have these two back in the studio!
