Get your popcorn ready, fantasy fans! Netflix has just premiered its fantasy-drama series, Sweet Tooth, today on its streaming platform, with an impressive 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sweet Tooth is arguably one of the most anticipated shows of the summer. Based on Jeff Lemire's D.C. comic book series, the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic society and shares the adventures of a hybrid-deer boy and his protector.
Child actor Christian Convery plays the main character Gus, a 10-year-old half-human and half-deer boy, who must search for a new beginning amidst danger alongside a serious, lone wanderer in this whimsical series.
Produced by Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey, the dystopian drama brings a reflective message of life after an apocalyptic pandemic brings forward a new batch of hybrid children. RDJ took to Twitter to share his gratitude about the positive reviews regarding Sweet Tooth:
#SweetTooth is now certified fresh with a perfect 100% critics score. So incredibly proud of the whole @sweettooth… https://t.co/6qbDfo8xuO— Robert Downey Jr (@Robert Downey Jr) 1622826514.0
Susan Downey shared in an interview with The New York Times about her enthusiasm for the show to reach as many people as possible:
"The series says, 'Embrace differences, don't be fearful of them, and build a community.' I'm excited to share it with the world."
With a stellar cast including Nonso Anozie, Dania Ramirez, James Brolin, Will Forte, Stefania LaVie Owen, and more, critics are raving about this series.
Season One of Sweet Tooth includes eight episodes and is available to watch on Netflix today.
