Warner Bros. announced on Tuesday that a prequel film for Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will hit theaters in 2023.
<p>After getting the rights to <a href="https://celebritypage.com/search/?q=willy+wonka" target="_blank">Willy Wonka</a> back in 2016, rumors of a new movie in the works began to surface. However, it wasn't until this week that these rumors became reality. </p><p>Signed onto the project is "Paddington" director Paul King, producer David Heyman (known for producing the<em> Harry Potter</em> series), and screenwriter Simon Rich who will write the script.</p><p>While there is no official casting yet, <a href="https://collider.com/new-willy-wonka-movie-release-date-tom-holland-timothee-chalamet/" target="_blank">Collider</a> reported that Warner Bros is eyeing either <a href="https://celebritypage.com/search/?q=tom+holland" target="_blank">Tom Holland</a> or <a href="https://celebritypage.com/search/?q=timothee+chalamet" target="_blank">Timothée Chalamet</a> for the role of Willy Wonka. The movie has a premier date of March 17, 2023, and is setting out to begin filming either late summer or early fall.</p><p>Roald Dahl first released his children's novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 1964. It was adapted onto screen just a few years later, with Gene Wilder starring as Willy Wonka. The film was reimagined in 2005 with <em>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory</em>, which starred Johnny Depp and featured music by Danny Elfman. </p><p>With the long history of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, all eyes are on Warner Bros. for the making of this prequel.</p><p>As of present, Warner Bros. has announced a jam-packed 2021 season with many other projects coming to theaters and streaming on HBO Max.
