#TheConjuring fans get a first look at #TheConjuring3 ahead of premiere set for June 2021

The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It is set for release on June 4th, 2021. It's first trailer has yet to be seen by the public, but a featurette showing the behind-the-scenes from all of the movies from the Conjuring Universe has just been posted.

The half-hour video starts by showing Bishop Bryan D. Ouellette blessing the cast and crew in the summer of 2019 to kickoff the filming of the third Conjuring film. Director James Wan looks back on the first film and talks about how his inspiration initially came from wanting to create the horror films surrounding haunted houses that he loved while growing up - then he discovered Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Ed & Lorraine Warren: Paranormal Investigator Power-couple

The Travel Channel

Ed and Lorraine Warren were two paranormal investigators from Connecticut who actively worked on cases in the 1970s to the 1980s. Wan was fascinated by the multitude of popular paranormal cases the couple has been a part of, saying:

"The fact that they have investigated so many different cases means that naturally would allow us to sort of look into other avenues of storytelling."

Wan talks about how at first, he didn't realize that the Conjuring universe would get as big as it has:

"We were just sort of playing amongst ourselves in our heads and just sort of joking, that wouldn't it be great to, you know, if we get the chance to explore other stories as well within the sort of world of the Warrens. And then from that, since the first movie, we were allowed to do so but, no, I never expected that the Conjuring, sort of, universe would go on to be as big as it has become."

Lorraine Warren was on set of the first and second Conjuring films to add a real-life perspective to the events portrayed and to help make these movies more realistic, as they all tell a true story.

'The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It'

In all three Conjuring films, Ed Warren is played by Patrick Wilson while Lorraine Warren is played by Vera Farmiga. In the featurette, Farmiga explains to fans that the third movie will highlight a paranormal case from the 1980s that is unlike any other case done by the Warrens. She says:

"The trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson. This was an internationally renowned case, which was, the first time in the history of law in the United States that..."
"...that demonic possession was used as a reason for committing manslaughter."

Wilson finishes her sentence. He goes on to describe how The Conjuring 3 is a different experience from the previous movies:

"You're in for a much different ride than you've been on in other Conjuring films."

The Arne Cheyenne Johnson Case

The premise of the third Conjuring film tells the story of the Arne Cheyenne Johnson case. Johnson, who was on set of The Conjuring 3 explains:

"As I got to the bottom of the stairs, and I went to open the door, I don't remember anything from that point. The next thing I know, I was in a jail cell and I said 'What's going on here?' and they said 'Well you're being charged for murder.' I said 'What are you talking about?'"

In 1981, Johnson was charged for the murder of his landlord, Alan Bono. Months prior, Johnson's fiancé's little brother, David Glatzel had undergone demonic possession, to which the Warrens, only living a few towns over from the family in Monroe, Connecticut, came to help. The Warrens remember Alan challenging these demonic spirits through the process and that worried them. The trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson is known for being the first trial in which the defendant claims demonic possession.

The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It, is directed by Michael Chaves. For the first time in the Conjuring series, James Wan took on the role of producer, handing the baton over to Chaves, with whom he worked on filming The Curse of La Llorona. The Conjuring 3 will premiere June 4th, 2021 and we will see the Warrens take on a new paranormal case.
