The Dish: Big Premieres In Theaters & The Return Of Hit Shows

Celebrity Page TV

Dear Evan Hansen hits theaters this weekend and shows like Greys Anatomy and Vanderpump Rules are returning to your screens. Catch up on the latest movie and TV news on today's episode of The Dish.

Happy Friday! On today's episode of The Dish, our Sonia Isabelle is here to share what new TV shows and movies viewers can look forward to.

Vanderpump Rules - Bravo

First off, Bravo is home to many fan favorite reality shows, but none are so popular as Vanderpump Rules. Lisa and the gang are back in the ninth season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spin-off. We sat down with Vanderpump herself to hear the latest on the newest season.

"It's been a lot of work actually reopening the restaurant, and being there the days leading up to it and there every night since. So, it's been a lot, but I'm just so happy to have them back up and running."

The season 9 premiere of Vanderpump Rules airs Tuesday September 28th at 9:00pm ET on Bravo.

Grey's Anatomy - ABC

Two is always better than one! That's why ABC is serving up two big premieres at once. Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 are crossing over for a shocking premiere event. Grey's is entering its 18th season, while the spin-off is entering its fifth.

And as if the crossover weren't exciting enough, this season will see the return of a fan favorite. That's right, Kate Walsh is back to portray the iconic Dr. Addison Montgomery. You won't wanna miss this two-hour crossover event which starts Thursday September 30th at 8:00pm ET on ABC.

Dear Evan Hansen

A hit Broadway show gets the film adaptation treatment in Dear Evan Hansen. Staying true to its roots, original broadway cast member Ben Platt will be returning to play the titular character.

"I think something that's really important for the entirety of the film is really understanding Evan's perspective and where Evan is coming from so that you never turn against him."

That was Platt on the multi-dimensional character that he won a Tony, Grammy, and Emmy for portraying. Platt's co-stars include Julianne Moore and Amy Adams. Unlike Hamilton which was released onto Disney Plus as a recording of the stage production, Dear Evan Hansen is a completely different animal. It is truly something you will have to see to believe. Dear Evan Hansen is in theaters now.

The Tony Awards

Speaking of Broadway, the Tonys are back! After over two years, Tony winning actress Audra McDonald is taking the stage as the host of The 74th Annual Tony Awards. The ceremony will be accompanied by a celebration called "Broadway is Back!" hosted by Leslie Odom Jr. McDonald had this to say about Broadway's return.

"We're very excited. You know, our industry has been so decimated and it's not just the people on stage. It's the people who work backstage: the crew, the wardrobe, the front of house, the contractors, the vendors. It has affected all of us."

This year's ceremony will celebrate the 2019-20 season. That being said, Jagged Little Pill is currently leading with 15 nominations including Best Musical. The 74th Annual Tony Awards air Sunday September 26th on Paramount+ and CBS.
