Originally slated to begin in October, The Music Man will now start previews on April 8th, 2021. All ticket holders had tickets will be exchanged for a new performance. The postponement comes due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has shut down all forms of crowd based entertainment including musical theatre. Producer Scott Rudin told the Hollywood Reporter:

"Safety is safety, and it has to take precedence over every other consideration — for both our audience and for our company. Despite the postponement, we are sticking together as a company, and we are grateful to be able to do so. And so we look forward to arriving at the Winter Garden — with a beautiful, heartening Music Man in tow — at the beginning of April, and to being just one part of what we expect will once again be a vibrant and exciting Broadway."

The cast for the revival includes Hugh Jackman as Harold Hill, Sutton Foster as Marian Paroo, Jayne Houdyshell as Mrs. Shinn, Jefferson Mays as Mayor Shinn, Marie Mullen as Mrs. Paroo, and Shuler Hensley as Marcellus Washburn.

The Creative Team includes Jerry Zaks (Director), Warren Carlyle (Choreographer), Santo Loquasto (Scenic and Costume Design), Natasha Katz (Lighting Design), Jonathan Tunick (Orchestrations), David Chase (Vocal and Dance Arrangements), and Patrick Vaccariello (Music Director).
