Working Together For a Good Cause

When talking with Celebrity Page TV about PBC's efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community, owner Chris Hartley recognizes how crucial it is to give back in any way possible. To successfully do this, Hartley's brewery coined the term "draftivism", where 15% of the profits from will go to local charities. By buying a beer, people can participate in recreational activism and support the values that P-Town stands for.

One of the charities that PBC donates to is the Transgender Emergency Relief Fund of Massachusetts. Hartley talks about how important this organization is to him, saying:

"They offer, not only advocacy, but they are also giving immediate financial assistance to those that are in need in addition to being a local charity that is giving support—immediate assistance to people in our backyard, the most vulnerable which are in our community, and our poor community, which are our trans people of color."

To talk more on what exactly the Transgender Emergency Relief Fund does to help the trans community, director Chastity Bowick tells us why it is important to garner attention for this relief fund and what it means for trans people of color.

"We are being oppressed in so many different parts of our lives. You know, we just had the White House sign a bill to repeal back our protections in health care and health insurance. So now we can be discriminated against for trying to obtain certain medical services that we need. So we just need visibility, we need more recognition, and we need our allies to stand up and stand alongside of us and help us fight this fight."
